Deluca Corporation is proud to announce our recent win at the 2025 Master Builders Queensland Housing & Construction Awards, taking home the award for Retail Facilities over $5 million for our delivery of the landmark Plainland Home & Life centre. The awards, held as part of the Downs & Western region’s official launch of the 2025 awards season, celebrate construction excellence across Queensland. Our winning project, Plainland Home & Life, stood out for its innovative approach, local economic impact, and quality execution, setting a new benchmark for regional retail infrastructure.

About the Project

Delivered under a $17.7 million contract, the Plainland Home & Life project is a 4,732m² large format retail facility strategically designed to serve the growing community of Plainland, located on a 13,156m² site near the Warrego Highway. The centre is home to a diverse mix of anchor tenants including:

• Pet Stock
• Supercheap Auto
• Liquor Legends
• The Swim Factory
• Choices Retail
• The Hen House Café
• Plainland Dental
• Lifeline
• The Lockyer Doctors
• Sullivan Nicolaides Pathology

Innovative Delivery and Construction Excellence

The project was delivered through an Early Contractor Involvement (ECI) model, which transitioned into a full Design & Construct contract. This approach was critical to managing site-specific challenges such as:

• Highly reactive soil
• A sloping site
• Rainfall 30% above the historical average

Our team deployed advanced soil stabilisation methods, including deep ground injection, to mitigate slab risk, and implemented a unique underground carpark solution to maximise both parking and leasable area, a clever response to site constraints.

Supporting Local Industry and Environment

As part of our commitment to regional growth, we prioritised engaging local subcontractors and suppliers, ensuring valuable economic contributions stayed within the community.
Environmental responsibility was also front of mind, with the integration of:

• Drought-resistant native landscaping
• Efficient irrigation systems
• Strategic planting adjustments to protect the built form

The project also significantly improved the Warrego Highway frontage, elevating the urban landscape and visibility of Plainland as a thriving commercial hub.
